Merry Christmas!

Growing up, music was always a big part of my life. I grew up respecting the greats. I LOVE it when younger musicians give props to the individuals that have influenced them. Cases in point–Kid Rock doing a show with Hank Williams and discussing just how much he influenced Kid Rocks’ music or the way the Fugees performed with Roberta Flack as they covered her hit, Killing Me Softly. These younger musicians pay homage to their “musical elders” and still give their work a new twist to it.

Some of these music duos make sense (The Fugees and Roberta Flack, for example). Other combinations seem to come out of the blue…two groups like Run DMC & Aerosmith…coming together to give Aerosmith’s hit, Walk This Way, new spin. It’s one of the best examples of acceptance I can think of. Two groups from two different worlds coming together to collaborate.

So to celebrate the joyous season, I have one of the biggest examples of musical shockers doing an old time Christmas hit. Mr. Ziggy StarDust…the person who was voted Best Dressed Man AND Best Dressed Female in 1972 (or 73) with Mr. Straigh Lace himself, the great singer of the 1940s, Bing Crosy doing my most favorite Christmas tune, the Drummer Boy.

Merry Christmas all! Have a great time with your family and friends. 🙂
