Debbi’s Hat

Another finished object! Here is a very belated Christmas hat:

DSCN0312

Pattern: Fana Cap by Charlene Schurch from Hats On!

Yarn(s): 1.25 skeins of Karabella Aurora 8 & 1 skein of Rowan RYC Cashsoft DK

Colorway (s): purple & lime (respectively)

Started: Early March then it hibernated for a while so I’m unsure of the dates

Ended: April 1, 2008

Needle(s): Size 6 DPNs for twisted ribbing
Size 8 16 inch circular for main part
Size 7 DPNs for the decreases

Modifications: In the decrease section, the pattern called for SSKs and I replaced them with a slip 1, knit one and pass slipped stitch over. I felt it looked better. Because I was nervous that the hat was/is too big, I changed to size 7s for the decreases. I’m not sure if that made a huge difference but I tried.

I really enjoyed making the hat because fair isle patterns are so much fun for me.

The last time I tried to make this pattern, it was too small but I was twisting stitches. This time, with size 8s, are too big.

Next time I make this, and there will be a next time, I’ll swatch (what a concept) and it will be a snugger fit. :-)

I really hope Debbi likes it.
